Money-Beasts!

Today the children traced around different coins to make a chosen mini-beast. They then calculated "how much money" each mini-beast (or money-beast!) was worth. Have a look at Lucy's work.

What is a half?

Here is an anchor chart of what we focussed on today - Fractions of a Whole. We experimented with different ways to make two equal halves. Here is also a photo of Ben's work.

We began the session by making a pyramid. Jake pointed out that it was a square-based pyramid. Then we went on to make a cube. We realised we had the shapes to make basic houses! This evolved into making a city of houses, Shape City. Suddenly other city features appeared such as roads, stop signs, trees, birds in trees, erasers as cars and sharpeners formed into skate parks!

Numbers

We are really trying to get to know numbers. In partners, we can take turns at writing numbers in a counting pattern. Last week, some of us started at 2 and counted until past 100. Some of us started at 100 or 200, and counted backwards by 2s! Here is a photo of our number strips.

Maths Stories

In Maths we have been writing maths stories using addition and subtraction. Here are 2 stories by Grace and Emily.

Venn Diagrams

We have started using Venn Diagrams to compare. Comparing lets us see how things are different and the same.

Crafty Fun

What a wonderful time we had making sea creature bookmarks with Kailan and his clever, crafty mum. Here are a selection of the beautiful bookmarks we made yesterday. What a great way to finish off a term learning about sea creatures!
